Hyundai Getz Prime 1.3 GLS- Long Term Report by Owner

This is the long term report by the owner of the vehicle. These are his exact words.

So it’s a 2007 Hyundai Getz Prime 1.3 GLS Driven just about 52k km in 13 years. It has been a reliable workhorse and has required very little maintenance. We get it serviced like once in 2 years but it stills runs and drives perfectly. It originally came with 185/65 R13 tires which provided good highway stability but we got it downsized to 155/65 R13 in favour of fuel economy. It has got a solid build quality and even after a decade, there is no rattling noise whatsoever. Part of it goes to the fact that it has been mostly driven on highways.

The 1.3L SOHC engine produces about 85hp and 115nm which sounds puny on paper but in reality, it doesn’t feel underpowered. Highway manoeuvres are a breeze and it easily cruises at 120 kph. So far I have been able to attain a top speed of 170 kph with 185 section tyres. Didn’t dare to go beyond that as it felt as if it’s flying. The gearing is quite tall, the car manages to hit 150kmph in the third gear itself. The engine redlines at 6500rpm.

Service has never been an issue but part availability is a headache. Even Hyundai A.S.S. straight-up denies providing parts as simple as the Fuel Filter. Each service costs about 4-5k depending on what all is being replaced Fuel economy is pathetic, it returns about 8-10 kmpl in the city with AC on and 11-11.5kmpl with AC off. And this is with a light-footed driving. On the highway, if driven sedately and with AC, it returns about 14-15 kmpl.

The Air Conditioning is pathetic too. Had to get the compressor and condenser replaced earlier this year but still, it’s bad. It does the job on the highway for front passenger and driver but the rear passengers don’t get any cooling at all.
