The 2022 Audi E-Tron GT is an attractive looking four-door electric car with engineering links to the Porsche Taycan. The E-Tron GT has dual electric motors, which produce 522 and 637 HP depending on the model you choose.
On the outside, the E-Tron GT has a lowered stance, on-point proportions with heavily sloping roofline, wide track, broad shoulder line and low bonnet. The grille has honeycomb-pattern grille is painted in the body color with a black surround. The purpose of the grille to hide the sensors used by the car’s assist systems. Other details include LED headlights and taillights with animations for the ‘coming and leaving home’ function. Wheel sizes range from 19-inch to 21-inch.
Let’s dive deep into the drivetrain.
The standard E-Tron GT quattro features a 238 HP electric motor powering the front axle and a 435 HP motor at the rear axle providing an all-wheel-drive layout. Both motors have a combined output of 475 HP and 630 Nm. There is also a boost mode available that boosts the peak power to 530 HP for 2.5 seconds when using the launch control. The top speed is 245 kph and 0-100 kph takes 4.1 seconds.
It uses a 2-speed transmission for the rear motor, with a short ratio first gear for acceleration and a long-ratio for greater efficiency and high-speed performance. The battery is an 85-kWH unit allowing a 50:50 weight distribution. Audi predicts a range of 488 km for the base GT. The E-Tron GT can also be recharged from 5 to 80 percent of its battery capacity in claimed 23 minutes using the standard 270 kW DC fast charger.
On the inside, the central stack is tilted towards towards the driver, while the tunnel houses a gear selector switch. It also gets a single 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system layout with physical button for the climate control. Other features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and a wide range of driver assistance and safety systems.
The RS models do not differ much from the standard model in terms of design. The main focus has been on upgrading performance. The RS models produce 598 HP and 830 Nm of twisting force. In boost mode, power rises to 646 HP and the RS E-Tron GT shoots from 0-100 kph on 3.3 seconds, with a limited top-speed of 250 kph. The predicted range reduces slightly over the standard car to 472 km. Air suspension is standard on the RS.
Its closest rival is Porsche’s 523bhp Taycan 4S, Tesla’s Model S Long Range Plus and the Ludicrous Performance.
