The Nio EP9 is one of the fastest cars around the Nürburgring. It set a time of 6:45:90 around the Green Hell in 2017. For people who are unfamiliar with Nio, it is a Chinese Electric Startup that aims to become a mainstream brand worldwide. After securing inaugural Formula E Championship title, Nio set out to build the EP9 electric supercar.
Moving on to the drivetrain, the car features four electric motors delivering a combined 1,342 HP and 1,580 Nm of torque. The car shoots from 0-100 kph in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 313 kph.
The car featured carbon fiber structure that weighs just 165 kg. Nio says the car can handle 2.53 lateral g forces in cornering at 225 kph and 3.3 longitudinal gs under braking.
The batteries are interchangeable, and Nio claims they can be swapped out in eight minutes and recharged in 45 minutes. The company claims a range of 426 Kilometers.
The car has much more than power, it has one of the biggest brakes of any production car in the world. These carbon-ceramic discs are 16 inches in diameter and they use 6-piston calipers. The wheels are 19 in diameter up front and 21 in the rear. The car also boasts an advanced torque vectoring system and four-mode active suspension.
The sleek design combines with ride height control, a full-length underfloor diffuser, and adjustable front splitter, and an active three-position rear wing to give the car twice the downforce of a Formula One Car.
